"Sawgrass Prairie"  60 x 20 inch oil on panel

This is the second piece in a series of three that I am working on for a client.  I am really enjoying the serenity of these landscapes.

"River of Grass" 60 x 20 inch oil on panel
I am so pleased with how this turned out!  I was commissioned by a gentleman in Florida to paint three pieces that capture different facets of the Everglades ecosystem and this is the first finished painting.  I have never visited the area so these paintings have really spurred me to research what the landscape looks like and the plants and animals that inhabit it.  This client even went out on a speedboat in the river of grass and took a wonderful video to inspire me!  It was great!  I can hardly wait to begin the next piece!

"Flow" 12 x 12 inch oil on aluminum composite panel

My husband and I went on one of our "day dates"(we drop the kids at school and go do something fun) and just drove around looking for cool stuff to photograph.  This is a close-up of the Dosewallips River.  It is primarily glacial runoff, but it gets really huge when it rains and flattens all of the surrounding grass.  I thought the colors and the "flow" were really beautiful.

"Barn Dance" 24 x 24 inch oil on gessoboard

I had a whole palette of colors mixed to do this same scene in the daytime, but then I had this idea and couldn't let it go.  I'm glad I changed my mind!

"Lotus Blossom" 12 x 6 oil on aluminum composite panel

I usually take my own reference shots, but I saw this one on Morguefile and had to paint it.  I have been wanting to paint a lotus for a long time and this one was it!

"Dawn at the Summit"  18 x 12 inch oil on gessoboard

I have developed a love affair with painting mountains.  This one is better in person.  The shadows are a tad more purple and the sky is a little more light peach.

"Iced Tea with Lemon"  16 x 16 inch oil on gessoboard

This is another one of my "deck paintings".  I like taking the reference shots for my still lifes outside in the natural light and sometimes I even include the natural background in the painting (trees, sky, etc.).  I am planning to try to do some even during the winter and seeing what kind of paintings I can get utilizing the cold light, long shadows, and who knows....maybe even snow!
